ith computer graphics and digital cameras has come the ability to efficiently combine photography and illustration. What used to involve cutting, pasting and airbrushing acetate layers to smooth out seams is now accomplished far more effectively in a computer.
Even in situations where photo input does not match the desired illustration style, experience in programs such as Photshop allow incremental parts to be filtered and painted over, thus achieving a uniform look.

As experience with the image making capability of a computer grows, the ability to efficiently create more ambitious images also increases.
